Hide-and-Seek

Helen has started "hiding" from us anytime we have to change her diaper. Her favorite hiding spot is in her room between her desk and the closet. She isn't even behind anything but she lies very still and thinks we can't see her. She also hides between her crib and the wall. This hiding spot makes more sense to me because at least she is behind something, but for some reason it is not the preferred spot. In the kitchen she tries to wedge herself between the table chair and the wall but usually has little success. However, when all else fails she enters what we call the defensive position. She either lays on her stomach in the fetal position, or she lays on her side with her legs up to her stomach. In both positions she is very still and I'm pretty sure she thinks we can't see her. The other day she did find a rather creative hiding spot. If she would have just curled up into the defensive position it might have worked out for her.

  1. Maybe she thinks you have the T-rex vision and can't see her if she doesn't move. Quite ingenious, if you ask me.
