Sesasme Street Live

Today we took Helen to see Sesame Street Live! She had a wonderful time at the show. Luckily we remembered to bring her Elmo because when we got there everyone else had their Elmo and she was a bit jealous until I took hers out. She enjoyed watching the show but when Elmo went off the stage she was not very pleased. Obviously she has a bit of an obsession with him. It was an hour and a half show so it was a bit long for her and she did get cranky towards the end. I realize this is not the most exciting blog post but I felt I should say something since I wanted to post pictures of the show:)

Waiting for the show to start

Watching Elmo

Yesterday at Wegman's I bought Helen this Elmo cupcake or as she refers to it "la la cake." She had it for her afternoon snack today. However, she was only able to eat about 1/3 of the frosting and no cupcake. We have saved the rest for tomorrow. But whatever she doesn't eat tomorrow if fair game to the rest of us.

CHEESE!

Helen's recent hatred of having her picture taken is starting to end. She will occasionally let me take a picture of her. However, she insists on saying, "cheese" and pointing her chin straight in the air so that I really don't get a picture of her face. It is pretty cute if I do say so myself.

Scared

First off I wanted to let my faithful readers (all 3 of you, one of which is my husband) know that my posts will probably be even less frequent for a while due to the fact that Edward has taken up residence on my sciatic nerve. I'm fairly sure you are all friends on facebook and can see pictures there.

Second, Carson has informed me that I should change the address and name of the blog since it won't be all about Helen and anymore but about Edward as well and he is afraid Edward might get a complex if the blog is named after Helen:) I suppose I agree with him and might have said something to that effect at some point so I can't put all the blame on him. When such a change happens I will of course make sure you are all informed.

Now for the story:

Yesterday before nap Helen and I were playing a game where she would shut her bedroom door and I would knock on the door and open it and say "hey, why are you shutting me out" and she would run and shut the door again. While sitting in the hall I found a shopping rewards card (the kind you get at the grocery store to get the special deals) and I slide it under the door and moved it around until she saw it and grabbed it. She thought that was pretty funny and when I opened the door she hid it from me. So the next time she shut the door I found a small piece of cardboard. I put it under the door and moved it around and when she came up to grab it I pulled it back so she couldn't get it. She made a noise and I thought she thought it was funny so I started to put the cardboard back under the door. However, she did not think it was funny. She was scared to death. She started yelling "mommy, mommy" trying to get the door open. It was sad, but very funny. And that was the end of that game.

Mrs. Potato Head

Carson recently bought Helen a Mrs. Potato Head. She really enjoys playing with it and I have to admit she is pretty creative when putting the facial features on.

Snowmen

Today we had a snowman day. Helen and I went out this morning and made a snowman in the snow. She was really excited when it was time to make the face and put the arms on. Sadly, when we woke up from our nap the nose (a lid from a coke bottle) had fallen off. Helen is the one who noticed she looked at me and said "uh-oh" and pointed to her nose. I wasn't sure what she was saying at first but I did figure it out. She was very distraught over the situation but luckily Carson fixed the nose when he came home later.

At art time we made snowmen on blue paper. Obviously I did on the cutting, but she did the gluing. I made one as well and I would put glue on my circle and glue it on my paper and then I would help her put glue on her circle and she would put it on her paper. We did it like that one piece at a time until we finished. I must say that her snowman turned out pretty well.

And last we played with play dough and made snowmen. Helen liked to hold the snowman up by his toothpick arms. And then she figured out she could stick the toothpicks in his face and she enjoyed that for a while.

This picture has nothing to do with the snowman post but Carson and I think it's pretty cool. This is how the icicles formed on our porch. I am lucky I took the picture when I did because about 45 minutes later they fell off.

Helen and Edward

While Tom and Angela were visiting one of Helen's favorite things to do was to play with her doll house with her Grandma. She has 2 dolls, a boy and a girl. I always called them "boy doll" and "girl doll" but Angela deemed them Helen and Edward and the names stuck. That is what they are known as to this day. While here Angela bought Helen some extra furniture for her doll house (she only had like 3 things). The new set of furniture came with 3 little green pillows that Helen (the real Helen not the doll) absolutely loves. She carries the pillows around the house, lays them on the ground and then tries to lay on top of them. She is always putting them on her doll house bed or in the doll house bath tub so that Edward and Helen have a place to sleep. Yesterday she decided that Helen and Edward needed a bigger place to sleep and I walked in my room to find all three of them laying nicely on the bed.

Snow

Sunday after Helen's nap Carson and I decided to take her outside to make a snowman. The snow was not snowman material so there was no building but Helen did enjoy herself. For the first time she did not scream when her hand touched the snow! She even walked around in the deep snow. My favorite thing was that she was so bundled up in her snow clothes that when she fell down she was unable to get up on her own so she would yell "Help!" (her help sounds more like "ha"). We were outside for about 30 minutes which is the longest she's wanted to stay out. In fact she did not want to come inside but her face was turning red so I made her. Here are a few pictures of her snow time fun.

Best Friends

Hello world! It has been a busy time with the holidays and a visit from the Webbs. I am sorry it has been so long since I last posted and I don't have much time now but I wanted to put an end to your Helen withdrawals with a picture!

For Christmas Helen's Aunt Rachel and Uncle Mark got her a gift card to target. It was eating a whole in her pocket so we had to go out and spend it. While at target she saw a Boots stuffed animal. (For those of you who don't know Dora is her new favorite show but she thinks the show is actually about Boots.) Carson and I thought Boots would take the place of Elmo because she didn't put Boots down all day. But we were mistaken now she not only needs Elmo to go to sleep but Boots as well.
