Every Girl Needs A Purse

I have always put Helen's church toys in one of my old purses for her. She finds it exciting to unzip it and pull everything out. Not to long ago I showed her how to put it up on her shoulder and carry it around. Yesterday she was playing with her 3 Little Pigs house. It's a big brick house with all of the pieces inside (3 pigs, wolf, straw house, stick house). Yesterday she decided it was a purse since it has straps on it and carried it around the house all day.

Where to?

Today for snack I gave Helen her cup of milk and some goldfish. She went about her business playing and I went about my own business straightening up. I hear her pushing her airplane around having a wonderful time. I looked over at her and then saw this

Apparently her milk needed to get somewhere fast.

My Little Helper

Helen loves to help out around the house. She is excellent at unloading the dishwasher, helping me fold clothes, and vacuuming. Yesterday she discovered a new activity that she is good at. She loves to use the little green brush and dust pan. She hasn't quite figured out that the bristle side needs to be down in order for it to work but we're working on it. If she keeps this up she will be able to clean the whole house by the time she's 3 or 4 and I won't have to do any work at all!

My Lovely Weed

I have a flower garden full of flowers to pick for bouquets. When we planted the seeds, we put more than the needed number of seeds in each spot to make sure at least one came up. Amazingly, we still had several places that no plant grew in so we transplanted some of the flowers where more than one grew. Apparently one of the "flowers" we transplanted was actually a weed. I watered it and took care of it. We finally realized it was a weed but I had taken care of it I didn't want to pull it so we let it grow and it eventually flowered! Unfortunately by that point it was so tall it looked a tad strange in my garden.

At the Park

Helen loves to go to the park. Her favorite thing to do there is swing. Today we spent an hour there and most of that time was in the swing. She is very content when she is swinging. She usually has her hands in her lap and just looks around peacefully.

Her next favorite thing is the slide. Today she figured out how to go down alone. She can climb up the stairs and sit down by the slide and then scoot herself down. Once she decided to go down on her tummy feet first. She really liked that and it even started a trend, a couple of other kids did it right after her:).

Who needs a pool?

Today I noticed the flowers I had picked were looking a bit droopy so I decided I needed to go pick some more. For those of you who don't know I have a flower garden in the front yard specifically for picking and making bouquets. I filled a pot up with water so I could put the flowers in it while I was cutting them. I carried Helen and the pot out at the same time and she started splashing around in the water. She was having such a good time that I decided I would let her splash around in it while I cut the flowers. I bent over to start cutting and looked up at her frequently to make sure she was okay. Not long after I started I looked up and saw her sitting in the pot! She has a lovely pool in the back yard that Grandma Angela bought her but apparently the pot is more fun.

Family Reading Time

Well Carson was probably right that even fewer people are looking at the blog since it was made private (I didn't have that many readers to begin with) so the password has been taken off. However, you can still get email updates if you want.

This evening after supper we had family reading time. Helen really enjoyed it. She walked back and forth between her bookshelf and the futon bringing books until she had just the right ones. Then she got up on the futon and started reading! She is a smart one.

This has nothing to do with the post but here is a picture of radicchio from the garden.
